Today at work:

We're hiring someone to do the same job as yours. You're expected to train them, do a good job of it, keep on top of your regular work as well as book biweekly meetings with me to discuss how you feel you've improved over all in all the things we expect you to do.

Yeah, pretty much. I've started job hunting. I don't think I'll get a good reference from this place either which is a shame because of putting four years into it... I honestly don't know what to do besides try my best to find another job.

That's one thing I don't miss about Canada. The unexpected!!! I'm too used to people telling me straight up when they are not happy with me. But I miss everything else :) good luck sweetie. Maybe you can come work with me some day.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry - if it's as bad as other people have theorized, that really sucks. I hope you find something better, and the least they can do for making you train your own replacement is to give you a decent reference.

*growls* That brings up a memory from a job I held for five years; the office manager left and I had to do her job and mine, so I just applied for the position when they opened it up - more money and I was already doing it.

Couple months later, after continuously telling me they hadn't decided yet, suddenly we have a new office manager. It's the niece of one of the owners, fresh out of college and clueless.

I was supposed to train her. After two weeks she still didn't know the first thing about what she was supposed to do and I was fed up. So I quit. I wound up with a much better job which led to the one I have now that I love to pieces.

I still get irked when I think about it, even though the company went belly up a year later and I had the last laugh. Hang it there and remember that karma has a way of evening things up.
