QUEUE RANT

So my 25 year old guy friend’s mom is going through a rough time… mood swings and apparent insanity.

So I asked him how old she was and he said 50.

To which I replied with “oh! It’s just menopause.”

He’s all like “what’s menopause,” and I was like “HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT MENOPAUSE IS?” he had to Wikipedia it for christ’s sake.

How does ANY 25 year old man not know of menopause?? I mean I know male dominated society but FUCK, everyone will have to deal with menopause eventually. Its like periods, half of the people on the planet get them! Yet men don’t want to discuss them? Why the hell not? Men have SPERM and only half the people have it, you don’t see me ejaculating all over the place. But we still can talk about your sperm like it’s perfectly normal. WELL GUESS WHAT, periods are perfectly normal too! And don’t cringe away and say that’s gross, you know what, ejecting fluid from your fucking penis is gross! When I was a kid I remember thinking EW GROSS, its pee! In health class in grade 5 they had to explain to us girls that no no a switch goes off or some shit like that so we wouldn’t think it was pee but rather this magical fluid that isn’t pee. Well it still comes out of the same hole and that’s still FUCKING GROSS.

Yet by the time we girls hit 15 or so it’s not gross anymore cause we get to hear about your stupid magical sperm all the fucking time. Well, they should do the same shit with periods. Women all over the planet should be able to talk openly about their periods. It’s not blood, it’s magical babymaking blood, get the fuck over it.

Thank you! It is actually from a real conversation I had with my roommate earlier today, I went into rant mode and said pretty much all of the above and he thought it was funny. Especially the ejaculating bit.

When we have a world were talking about sex openly is not seen as a bad thing, then maybe one can blame people for not knowing about menopause.

But so long as this society thinks violence is perfectly fine to show, and a naked human or a romantic sex scene is bad for your mental health, sex will never be freely spoken about.

Bleeding from one's vagina is not sex. In fact it indicates a distinct lack of sex. Or, more likely, sex with latex in the way. Or possibly chemicals in the way. I just napped and drempt a female Harry Potter had to save his female Draco Malfoy lover from enemies that had taken over Hogwarts by sending black birds to dive bomb the school. I'm feeling a bit off okay? ;)

Holy jeez. Menopause, I'm surprised. I don't think I know anyone above the age of like ten who doesn't know what it is. That may be an exaggeration but by the time they're 25, really? o_O


Thank god for art school, where sex is freely spoken about.
And menopause. I rant about it every damn period I have (or pseudo-menopause, or "temporary" menopause, still fucking up my hormones) so everyone I know knows what it is at least. ;)
