Well... good. Anything that gets him to stop - and hopefully he does stop now.

Look at it this way, going on like that was no good for *either* of you. If he really is in love with you, he needs to move on and get over you (terribly difficult it may be, I'm sure) so he can find someone else that he can be happy with.

So maybe a little harshness is what he needed to make him realize that. It's for the best.

Maybe it's because I'm largely a selfish person but... the dude needed to hear it even if you had to say it that way. According to you, you've told him many, many times you're not interested in him like that. If he has to have his feelings hurt so what he set himself up for it, no means no, find another woman to lust over who wants him back. I'd advise you to remove yourself from this living situation but I don't know if you can or not so I can't say anything about that.
