spacefilleI had a great time last night! It was like every moment in my life came to a stop into one teriffic fan glorious shining moment which lasted an hour and a half as "TMNT Forever" played.
So yes, yesterday I went to an "elite" fanbased gathering for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which was actually surprisingly easy to get into if you're a dedicated enough fan. I loved meeting a great deal of the fandom and chatting with them, as well as chatting with a lot of my heros growing up, the artists who penciled and inked the TMNT comics.
The TMNT gala event was amazing. It was a 21+ affair (what? a TMNT event for adults only? We get drinks on teh house??) They showed us the TMNT Forever video which had me in stitches for an hour and some, especially at how *annoyed* the new toon turtles got at their old toon selves. ("It's like having 5 Mikeys!")
I won't spoil it (much) but I want to see it released on DVD sooo bad! Because I have BALLS (or am just annoying) I dashed up to people and requested to see the video released. I asked the artists first, who are used to me by now. One of them (Steve?) sent me to a 4Kids guy. I asked the 4Kids guy to release it and he said yes, so I hugged him, expensive business suit and all. I asked the TMNT business guy who was hosting the event and he said it was more of a licensing issue, playmates toys own the original cartoon for example and for some reason he mentioned Warner Bros? So maybe we'll never see this video released to DVD. :(
Oh yes and I got my picture taken with Keno from the second TMNT movie, who was cute, short, and who was trying to pick up the ladies. XD And Jim Lawson was drunk and hilarious.
Anyway, that aside Comic Con has been super fun so far, though I've left a lot of the more commerical aspects of the con aside to focus on stuff I really enjoy, connecting with people in my OTF (One True Fandom). I am surprised and happy at how many people I've met. As a note to myself more than anything Mikey from Mikey's TMNT is super nice, as is Dawnatello. Both of them are people I want to hang out with more, and Tokka as well because he is just awesome.
I also met GreenWillow, Blue, shook hands with Buslady (she had no idea who the hell I was), Cynlee, Mica, Mica's girl, and of course our group of people, Kismet, Anon, Reasonable. And Pimpy, who hit on me and made me giggle. For some reason the entire group of them were sitting in other locations so I was sad and didn't get to sit with everyone.
I also wanted to spend more time with Reasonable who I think feels sad and lonely a bit, and I feel sad for her as I know it's hard to connect in this giant con. And Pimpy, who I see for seconds at a time before she disappears again or I disappear.
In happier news, KC won something and was happy as a clam. :) So there you go, con report for so far. <3
I'm going to head off now and try to get into the Ray Bradbury panel. :) Wish me luck. If I fail, I will be going to go talk to the artists more. :3
